When you travel full time you need gear that can keep up with you. We’re not talking a 5 year old cell phone that can takes blurry photos and has a battery that lasts less time than a cup of coffee.

No, you need gear that is waterproof and can stand up to some dings and dents. Your bag needs to have enough space to hold your gear but can still be light enough that it doesn’t put strain on your body.

When we first started vanlife 4 years ago, our plan was to try to escape from modern world as much as possible. This meant no phone plan, no internet connection, no wifi and no phones. It didn’t take long for reality to set in that we weren’t simply living an off grid retro lifestyle but instead an ultra modern digital nomad existence. Our search for an escape from technology turned into a quest to find the best of the best. Slowly we upgraded our computers, phones, tablets and cameras so that we now have the best of the best. These upgrades, while coming at a significant cost, made it so that we can work from anywhere, take high resolution photos to record our travels and stay in touch with loved ones from wherever we are in the world.

As you know, we LOVE traveling. We believe in the power of the tourist sector and have respect for its role in a country’s economy. But, we are HUGE advocates for travel to be a POSITIVE contribution to an economy.

Travel SHOULD allow you to gain an understanding and respect for a new culture and way of life.

It SHOULD NOT be treated as a photo op, be judged, be disrespected or be negatively influenced.

Travel SHOULD allow you to see new lands.

It SHOULD NOT allow you to pollute them.Travel SHOULD make you new friends. It SHOULD NOT allow you to harm animals.

Let’s keep traveling, keep encouraging, and keep making a POSITIVE influence in this world.
